Day Two: Monetizing Your Blog (Part 1)

By now you have started writing your blog about what you are passionate for or interested in & you are full on your way learning all the ins and outs of the blogging platform you picked. Now you want to know how all these SAH moms and blog-gurus are making a living just by blogging, right?

The truth is, it’s very hard to make a living by just blogging. Don’t go into blogging thinking it’s a get-rich-quick scheme, it is everything BUT that. Blogging takes a lot of time, effort, and passion behind the writing to make it successful. It took many bloggers years before they started seeing any sort of profit from their hard work, but in time it will come you just have to be patient.

In the mean time, you do want to monetize your blog so it will start bringing in profit. The most popular way to make money blogging is by signing up for Google Adsense which is where Google will place ads in specified places on your blog and pay you a certain percentage based on the amount of people that visit your site/click the ads. Another popular way is by signing up for Affiliate networks that have all sorts of offers/promotions that you can offer your readers of your blog and you make money whenever they take advantage of the offers or click on them.

Some of my favorite affiliate networks that you can sign up for are:

Escalate Network
Mysavings Affiliate Network

Be sure to research disclaimers to put on your blog. Whenever you are making profit from the blog or inserting content that generates profit you need to have a disclaimer on the post. Stay tuned for Part 2 where we will learn about how to appropriately sell ad space on your blog!
