• Catch of the YEAR: ESM Shops Target Clearance

    Jul 30

The above picture are the toys I scored at 75% OFF today at my local Target store. A few years back I discovered this wonderful 75% off sale that Target has semi-annually in their toy section. This sale allows me to stock up my gift closet for every child-centered occasion imagined at the lowest price I can find for new toys- 75% off! Now, it is a lot of work, waiting for this sale the past go round was almost painful. It took them almost 2 weeks to mark the toys all the way down, but once they did it was so worth it.

So what was my grand total?

    Out of Pocket: $86.24

    Total Saved: $258.72

Can you imagine spending $344.96 for all of this stuff? Simply for some of your Christmas and Birthday gifts, out of pocket you would be almost $300! You can see now why I try to limit my shopping during the year and buy it all at once during the Target clearance event.

    Tips to pre-shopping:

    1. Make a list ahead of time- Based on last year’s birthday party invites that you are sure you will be invited to again this year and how old the kids will be. That way you are buying the appropriate age and boy/girl specific toys.
    2. Always buy back-ups- Buy 2 of each (girl and boy) toys for extra birthday parties you are not anticipating.
    3. Packaging and Gift Bag stuffers- I found great sand buckets that will make awesome party favor holders or gift baskets. If you see a lot fo little stuff, start combining it together to make one big gift!
    4. Stocking Stuffers- Who said adults don’t like toys? I found great electronic pocket games that will make awesome stocking stuffers or little treats for some adults on my list.
    5. ALWAYS price check- If an item is in the marked down section but does not have a sticker, or the sticker is a lower mark down amount, always price check it before putting it back because you think the price is as listed. People make mistakes, and finding an item that is less than marked is an awesome feeling.

Check your local Target for the same toy clearance as was in my area. Hopefully your Target’s markdown schedule is a little delayed compared to mine and you have a chance to shop this great sale! If you see your toys marked 30% or 50% know that 75% is coming soon, and ask an associate when to expect the markdown.
