• LOCALS! CVS Sobe Deal:Busted

    Jul 6

Those of you that are in the Mobile, AL area are going to have a hard time doing the FREE Sobe Deal I spoke about last week. It seems that our district manager has decided that when we use a manufacturer B1G1 coupon on top of a B1G1 sale we are comitting coupon fraud. No, we are not, but getting him to see the light and understand our terminology is not easy.

I spoke with David, our district manager, this evening and explained that we are “buying” one, we just are not buying it with money. We couponers see our coupons as cash, and to the store that is what they are good for. The manufacturer reimburses the store PLUS some for each coupon they redeem, so in their eyes we are buying the product, just buying it with a coupon. However David does not see it that way. So if you are trying to use the Buy 1 Get 1 Sobe coupon on the sale, you will have to purchase one- then get 2 free. I am not sure where his logic is in that but this is what was stated to me.

If you would like to call the Mobile, AL CVS distrcict office to speak with them directly about this matter you can call 251-661-1450. I hope we can get through to them and help them realize that this is a real-deal and to accept our coupons!

Seems like a very strange change of heart considering they have run this deal several time since B1G1 coupons starting appearing and have always accepted them in the past. I wonder is maybe it has something to do with a promotional set up CVS has with the company and they feel they are loosing too much money on it? Who knows.

so this will be a problem from now on with any b1g1 coupons + b1g1 sale?

and who all is included in the Mobile district? Does this serve Baldwin Co. as well?

Every industry out there has a trade group. I wonder if there’s a manufacturer’s coupon trade group that can give an official “Industry Policy” on this issue.

I lucked out on saturday at the CVS on Dauphin/Florida. I had to get a prescription filled and took in my coupon caddy to see if I could find anything left from the current week’s ad. They already had the SOBE marked as B1G1 and they honored it and took my coupons. I got 8 SOBE for free!!!!

I used four coupons this morning in Foley, AL….paid .64 for eight bottles with no problem. That’s all they had in stock though so I think I will just pick up some more at Walmart where they are “rolled back” to $1. I really like these drinks, so I don’t mind paying 50 cents for each. I can’t imagine why this would be considered coupon fraud. That doesn’t make much sense.
