Thinking about stealing a Sunday paper?
–Walking up to the paper vending machine outside your local gas station or grocery store you put in your $2.00 in change and the door opens. Suddenly, all of those paper are sitting there and you feel an urge that says “Well, why can’t I take more than one?”–
Why can’t you take more than one? BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL! But not only that, someone is having to pay for that paper you are stealing. I spoke to a girl a few weeks back who throws a paper route. She has been throwing papers for a while so I figured she would have the answers to my questions about newspapers. In my area, there has recently been a huge problem with people stealing Sunday papers for the coupons. I wanted to know if it really was a big deal if you take more than one for the news stand. Here is the answer she gave me:
Who stocks those machines? While it might look like the paper stocks the machines themselves, actually individuals stock the machines. Individuals that purchase the papers then stock the machines. The papers you purchase out of the paper machines are already paid for by the person that stocks them, you are just paying them back. Therefore, when you pay $2 and grab 3 papers, the person stocking the machine loses money from their pocket.
Have you ever purchased a paper to get home and realize their are no coupon inserts? This is happening more and more lately and believe it or not it is not all the paper company’s fault. People have been stealing the inserts out of the papers in the grocery stores and machine so they don’t have to purchase papers. THIS IS JUST AS BAD AS STEALING PAPERS. Be sure to check your papers before you purchase them to be sure they have the inserts and if you do fall victim to this be sure to call your local paper office and ask for replacement inserts.
