Publix Couponing 101

In the past few weeks since I have been shopping and posting my trips to Publix I have had A LOT of questions about the Publix Coupon Policy. The policy so far has been ever changing so if I update anything in the coming weeks I will be sure to highlight it for you guys. I am making a “Publix” section under the “Store Specific Deals” tab. Under the Publix section will be a link to the Publix Couponing 101 post.
- Publix circulars typically go out in the Wednesday paper. So their sales will run from Wednesday- Tuesday of each week.
- Manufacturers coupons- All Publix stores accept these willingly. Whether they are straight from the Sunday paper or a mailer OR Printed online- you should not have any trouble using these coupons.
- You can only use TWO coupons per item. (ONE) Store coupon, such as Publix or competitor coupons if your store accepts them and (ONE) Manufacturer Coupon. This is a policy enforced by the Corporate office and applies to ALL PUBLIX STORES. Using both is called stacking coupons.
- Store Coupons- Publix offers store exclusive coupons located in their weekly ads or in a booklet near their weekly ads (in store and possibly in the paper). You CAN stack these coupons with manufacturer coupons to save more money.
- uPromise E-Coupons- uPromise is a program to help you save money while shopping and apply it to your children’s college education. Publix offers a store exclusive card (available at customer service or online) that you can use at their store to rack up uPromise dollars! See the uPromise ad below for more information about this program. Click here for information about the Publix uPromise card.
- Other Store’s Coupons- Some Publix stores actually HONOR these coupons to their full value. If you have a Target coupon for $1 Crystal Light you can take it to Publix and they will accept it! I know- AMAZING!
- Penny Items- On Sunday & Monday some Publix stores will run a mystery penny item sale. The coupon for this item will be in the circular and is valid with a purchase of $10 or more.
- The coupon policy at each Publix store is different. Some stores will take competitor coupons, run the penny item sale, & double coupons- others do not. The fact of the matter is that it is up to both the corporate office and the store manager to make these decisions. If you have a question or suggestion about this contact the store manager and tell them your feelings. They listen!
- Fairhope Publix WILL accept competitor coupons. These include Target, Walgreens, CVS (not ECBs), and Rite Aid. This means any Rite Aid coupon you have for $4/$20 purchase IS valid at the Fairhope Publix.
- “ONE PER TRANSACTION” competitor coupons- If a competitor PRINTABLE coupon states “one per transaction” you can only use one coupon per transaction, per person, per day. If you need to know more specifically what these kind of coupons look like, click HERE for a post from ESM.
- MOST IMPORTANTLY this means that the Fairhope Publix WILL TAKE Walgreen’s Register Rewards. Because the print out as ‘catalina’ coupons (meaning seperate from the receipt) and say “manufacturer coupon” at the top- you CAN use these to pay at Publix! However, you can only use (1) per transaction.
- You can only use TWO coupons per item. (ONE) Store coupon, such as Publix or competitor coupons if your store accepts them and (ONE) Manufacturer Coupon. Using both is called stacking coupons. Thispolicy is enforced by the Corporate office and is the same policy for ALL PUBLIX STORES.
- $DOLLARS$ OFF COUPONS- The Publix in Fairhope is now limiting these to (1) per transaction. That means if you have a $10/$50 from Winn Dixie, $5/$20 from Rite Aid, or $5/$25 from CVS you will have to choose just one to use that fits your transaction best. The question of if you can split your purchase into multiple transactions has not been addressed but I am sure the answer will come soon. I will do my best to get the regulations of splitting transactions posted on the site as soon as I find out.
- B1G1 Sales- All Publix stores allow you to use more than one coupon on B1G1 sales. If you B1G1 you may use (2) coupons for that items since technically you are purchasing two items. If you do not want 2 items or do not have two coupons- Publix’s B1G1 items ring up as half off so there is no need to buy 2 to get the good price.
- LIMITS- There is now a limit to (4) deals per sale item. This means if something is on sale B1G1 you can do the B1G1 deal 4 times equalling 8 items. Non-sale items have no limits as before.
- The Fairhope store does not: Do Penny Item sales or doubling coupons. They also will not take a competitor coupon that is not within 100 miles of our area like Food Lion “FLIPS”.
