Frugality 101 Overview & Welcome New Readers!

I enjoyed participating in the Frugality 101 seminar this morning with Susan and Michael Rife. They are two extraordinary people who save lots of money using coupons and other money saving strategies. I was honored to participate and enjoyed meeting all of you that were there!

If you missed the seminar this morning, here are a couple money saving tips from the Rife’s:

• Instead of washing all of your laundry in your preferred detergent (Tide, Woolite, etc.) just save that for your clothes and use an off brand washing detergent for your towels, etc. Also, wash your laundry on COLD instead of hot. It cleans just as well and saves you money!
• Found a good deal on milk? Freeze it! Make sure to take out a little off the top because when milk freezes it expands. It will stay good in the freezer for about a month.
• Pickyourown.org is a site where you can go to buy produce from your local farmers. The profit goes directly to them and you can arrange however much you want and when to pick it up.
• Have a Bed Bath & Beyond coupon? Save it because they don’t expire! Ignore the expiration date because they take it anyway. You will see these coupons in the local paper often in the amount of $5/$15 or 20% OFF.
• Chick-Fil-A puts out a calendar every year with coupons for each month. Chick-Fil-A will also take expired coupons and you can use more than one coupon in a transaction!
